I find it every bit amusing.
I've been looking forward to Capote since I first heard about it from Ebert & Roeper late last year. I was able to watch the first few minutes last week, and I'm sooo excited to watch the whole thing...yes...I know...because Harper Lee is there...but also because it has been a highly-acclaimed film and Philip Seymour Hoffman is my pick to win the Best Actor Oscar. Based on what I've seen, it's as good as people say it is.
Now, it's very interesting to note that this year, there is another Capote-In Cold Blood movie coming up. Entitled Infamous, it will feature Toby Jones (voice of Dobby the House Elf among other things) as Capote and Sandra Bullock as Miss Lee. And no, this isn't about the two characters growing up in Maycomb--I mean, Monroeville, Alabama. It is actually also about the time Capote spent researching for and working on In Cold Blood!
Very amusing how Hollywood is churning out two movies about the same event practically within the same year.
Nevertheless, I now have a new upcoming movie to add to my list. As a Vanity Fair article pointed out, this coincidence(?) should be seen as something good, albeit unusual. It'll be interesting to watch and compare both films.
NOTE: I hear they're also making a biopic on Harper Lee herself! *jumps up and down, clapping*
